This app lets you calculate the value of your junk silver coins using using the Silver spot price
and optional dealer premiums.
Instructions
To Change the Spot Price
To change the spot price, click the Silver Calculator Tab and put your cursor inside the
spot price text box, at the end. Remove all the text that is there already and then type in the spot
price there. It will now be copied to the other sections.
How to Use the Silver Calculator Tab
Here, you can accept the current spot price that's showing or insert it yourself, the quantity of each of the coins you want to by, and then, include a premium (if you
are being charged a premium), to be able to know what your total cost will be.
Spot Price:
Since the spot price is different on every dealer's site, here, you can either accept the spot price that's showing or enter the spot price manually.
Enter Quantities: Input how many dimes, quarters, or half dollars you have.
Premium: Enter a dollar or percentage premium (if you are being charged one) and choose the type.
Calculate Cost Button: Clicking this button will show you what your cost should be, given your other inputs.
How to Use the Dealer Premium Tab:
Here, you are able to figure out how much your dealer/coin shop is charging you (over and above spot price) as a premium.
Spot Price: Like the other tab, accept the current spot price that's showing or enter the spot price manually
Sale Price: Enter the total price/cost you're being charged for your purchase.
Enter the quantity of each of the coins you're buying.
Calculate Cost Button: Clicking this button will show you the premium you are being charged,
including the percentage over spot.
How to Use the Face Value Tab
Here, if you are buying multipe coin types (dimes/quarters/halves), you can just enter the total face value of the coins you are
buying. Enter that value into the Face Value text box. If you are being charged a premium, you can also enter that below.
Spot Price: Like the other tab, accept the showing spot price or enter the spot price manually
Face Value: Enter the total Face Value of the coins you are buying.
Premium: Enter a dollar or percentage premium (if you are being charged one) and choose the type.
Calculate Cost Button: Clicking this button will show you what your cost should be, based on the
spot price, your face value and the premium, if you are being charged one.
Default silver content, per coin:
Dime: about 0.0715 troy ounces of pure silver
Quarter: about 0.17875 troy ounces of pure silver
Half Dollar: about 0.3575 troy ounces of pure silver
Math to Remember:
For every $1 FV of Consititutional Silver = (appr) .715 ozt (ounces/troy)
(When first minted, in uncirculated condition, $1 FV is .723 ozt so, .715 is the accepted amount due to
wear once coins have been circulated)
Also - Every $1.40 FV of Constitutional Silver = 1ozt (ounces/troy)
(Whenever you see "FV" here, it means "Face Value")
